Michael Bower
PD / Edit Producer
About Me
Michael was one of the three Directors on the first series of BBC 1's Street Auction, and was a pleasure to work with. He did the first shoot of the 15-part series and so played a key part in helping to form the look and feel of the series. He's good with contributors, making them feel relaxed on camera, and also works well with 'talent'. But he's great to have as part of a team as he has a wonderful work ethic and manner about him. He's happy to muck in lend a hand whenever it's needed. During filming he had to think on his feet, going in and out of people's homes with changing light and sound issues. Michael managed that brilliantly, while still following the narratives and often capturing those precious spontaneous or funny moments. But I think the thing I liked most about Michael is that he really cares about people. On Street Auction many of the contributors needed handling with sensitivity and Michael understood that. He encouraged them to open up and then allowed them to speak.
