I’m passionate about finding and telling the human stories within culture, subculture, politics, activism and other areas. My drive in this is pretty simple; I believe good journalism can inspire compassion and empathy, both of which are integral to making the world a better place.
I’ve worked as a freelance feature writer, researcher and documentary filmmaker for over a decade since I graduated university. I’ve been a researcher, director, assistant producer, location scout and presenter on documentaries for Sky (director), VICE and VPRO (location scout), as well as on my own independent projects. For six years in London I held full-time roles in areas outside of journalism (mainly in youth work), while researching and writing in a freelance capacity for VICE, The i Paper, The Guardian, The Face and other publications. This helped me hone my craft and cultivate a robust work ethic, while still being connected to the world outside of journalism and filmmaking.
For the last four years I’ve been working full-time as a freelance multimedia journalist. I’ve researched and reported on everything from political protest camps in Wiltshire to the heavy metal music scene in Cambodia, from esoteric religions to the London’s homeless LGBTQIA+ community. The diverse areas I’ve covered in my work reflects my diverse interests and my unbounded curiosity. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved so far, especially my recent feature-length directorial debut Right Here, Right Now which premiered on Sky Documentaries in February.
