I am an experienced and creative factual and natural history PD with a strong science background, but keen and able to work across a variety of genres. During the decade and a half I have spent in television, I have worked for many different types of productions including landmarks, expeditions and quick turnaround shows. I have a range of directing experience across different budgets and locations - from complex natural history shoots (kayaking with orcas, forest elephants), to presenter lead shows (Solar System & Evolution), to smaller contributor driven stories (Science's Greatest Mysteries). I have directed shoots in North and South America, Asia, Europe and the UK. A key strength is my ability to construct compelling overarching narratives from science stories. I've worked on several VFX heavy productions (Evolution, Solar Sytem, One Day on Mars), and am adept at directing visually compelling VFX sequences, liasing with VFX houses and getting the most from limited budgets. I am a passionate photographer and my shots have been used to promote many of the films I’ve worked on. My first job in television was as a trainee science researcher at the BBC, a position for which I was selected out of 650 applicants. Read Less
