John Wendle is a shooting producer/director, DoP, journalist, and photographer based in Oxfordshire.

For more than two decades John has shot, produced and edited video as well as report and shoot feature stories as a freelancer for everyone from National Geographic and Time Magazine to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the UN High Commission for Refugees.

He was most recently living and working in Dakar, Senegal covering West Africa from 2018 to 2024. Prior to this, he lived and worked for a decade in Afghanistan and then in Ukraine, where he covered those conflicts for a range of top international magazine, newspaper, and television clients.

He speaks English, Russian and French and has reported stories in nearly 30 countries across the former Soviet Union, Afghanistan, and West and East Africa.

Working as a writer, photographer, cameraman, editor, and producer, John's packages and features have appeared on Netflix, National Geographic, PBS, Scientific American, TIME, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Al Jazeera, Channel 4, Le Monde, The Times, The Guardian, Outside, The Economist, UNHCR, the ICRC, MSF, and many others.
