Housing Journalist of the Year 1994 for work on Inside Housing magazine. Award given by the Housing Corporation. ‘Innovative, well written and well researched,’ was the judges’ verdict.
Runner-up Magazine Writer of the Year in 1992 Periodical Publishers’ Association Awards, for features in New Statesman and Society. ‘She writes with passion and clarity,’ said a panellist of my post-Gulf War item, for which I visited Iraq undercover, posing as a nurse in a medical aid convoy. The report was the first eye-witness account of the horrors of the country’s cholera wards.
