During his time on Countryfile, James has proved himself to be both an excellent journalist and TV researcher. He works well beyond the normal expectations. Week in, week out, he delivers original story ideas thanks to an extensive knowledge of the rural affairs and environmental genres and a wide base of contacts, many of whom are insiders delivering exclusive insights because of the trust they have in him. He also recognises what is needed to produce engaging content with strong visuals, clear story arcs and well-cast contributors. As well as confidently supporting producers and directors, he has developed his own film-making skills, writing pitches, structures and scripts, becoming a qualified drone pilot and developing his self-shooting skills. James is also a great support on location, unafraid to take on complex and challenging shoots, with well-planned out schedules and an excellent manner with contributors and presenters. He is a great asset to any team, displaying a relaxed, calming manner even when dealing with high pressure and the intense audience scrutiny a programme like Countryfile brings.
