“Luke David has filmed, directed and produced some groundbreaking stories, sensitively handled and displaying strong storytelling” - Royal Television Society West of England judging panel, September 2020

A filmmaker with 20 years’ experience in Documentary, Factual and Current Affairs genres, highly adaptable, with a reputation for structuring story and building relationships with contributors. Prior to television, I was a print journalist working for The Times, Sunday Times, Daily Mirror, The Sun and London Evening Standard.

Five regional RTS awards and a New York Festivals Gold Medal.

I shoot, produce, direct and edit produce and have made 30 and 60 min observational and presenter-led stand-alone documentaries for BBC1 and BBC2: seeing films from conception to delivery, leading every part of production, through programme development, pitching, story structure, casting, securing access, and editorial and legal compliance.
 
Currently working as a Shooting PD on BBC Morning Live (BBC1 daily, from 9.30am - 10.45am) making seven minute, consumer-focused films that are played out during the show.

Before going freelance, I was a staff PD for BBC England (public service BBC), shooting, producing and edit producing (remotely) half hour immersive docs for BBC1’s 'We Are England'  - airing at 7.30pm on Mondays. One of those was fronted by the comedian Jayde Adams and was nominated for an RTS West award for Best Factual (against BBC1's Trawlermen: Hunting the Catch). 

Previous to 'We Are England'  I was the Investigations Producer for BBC1's Inside Out, producing and directing 10 minute, 15 minute and half-hour, presenter-led documentary films as part of the formatted weekly series, aired on BBC1 at 7.30pm.
- Developing story ideas through journalism, whilst managing complex editorial and legal issues. Highlights included tracking and doorstepping  criminals in Northern Cyprus and Costa Del Sol; travelling to India with Roger Cook to investigate a British headmaster who was a paedophile; doorstepping the inventor of a fake bomb detector in Romania and, going undercover in challenging environments, including a care home and G4S 's tagging of offenders operation in Nottingham.
