“Luke David has filmed, directed and produced some groundbreaking stories, sensitively handled and displaying strong storytelling” - Royal Television Society West of England judging panel, September 2020

A filmmaker with 19 years’ experience in making Documentary, Factual and Current Affairs genres, I'm highly adaptable, with a reputation for structuring story and building relationships with contributors. Prior to television, I was a print journalist working for The Times and Sunday Times, Daily Mirror, The Sun and London Evening Standard.

I have five regional RTS awards and a New York Festivals Gold Medal.

I shoot, produce, direct and edit produce and have made 30 and 60 min observational, presenter led and structured reality, stand-alone documentaries for BBC1 and BBC2: seeing films from conception to delivery, leading every part of production, through programme development, pitching, story structure, casting, securing access, and editorial and legal compliance.
 
I'm currently producing, shooting and directing, seven minute consumer focused films for BBC Morning Live , which goes out daily on BBC1 from 9.30am - 10.45am

Prior to this I was a staff Producer Director for BBC England. I shot, produced and edit produced five half hour immersive docs for BBC1’s 'We Are England' which was aired at 7.30pm on Mondays. One of those was fronted by the comedian Jayde Adams and was nominated for an RTS West award for Best Factual (against BBC1's Trawlermen: Hunting the Catch). I edit produced all five remotely.

Before working on 'We Are England'  I was the Investigations Producer for BBC1's Inside Out, producing and directing 10 minute, 15 minute and half-hour presenter led, character led and talent led documentary films as part of the formatted weekly series that was aired on BBC1 at 7.30pm. This involved developing ideas through journalism and managing complex editorial and legal issues. Highlights included tracking and doorstepping violent criminals in Northern Cyprus and Costa Del Sol; exposing a British headmaster as a violent paedophile; doorstepping the inventor of a fake bomb detector in Romania; going undercover in challenging environments, including a care home and G4S.


With a background in investigative journalism, I am well versed in editorial and legal compliance. I thrive under pressure.
