Born and raised in Italy, Federica Schiavello is a producer, writer and director based in London who works across both fictional and factual content.

As screenwriter by trade (Bournemouth University, Class of 2015), Federica's work delves into themes of society and identity, merging raw, political subjects with evocative and surreal scenarios.

Deeply connected to her Italian roots, Federica draws inspiration from the Golden Age of Italian neorealism, infused with the modern aesthetics of directors like David Fincher and Sam Esmail.

To support independent filmmaking, in 2017 she funds WAYE (We are your enemy), film productions and creative collective, with Jay Ganduglia, collaborating with filmmakers around the world.

In 2022, Federica made her narrative directorial debut with "Stay Behind," an experimental period short film exploring NATO's secret military organisation Gladio in Italy and its ties to the mafia and state. "Stay Behind" won Best Film at the London Rolling Film Festival in 2023.

In 2023, she produces "Foul Evil Deeds" with Richard Hunter, a British dark comedy selected for the 77th Locarno Film Festival's Concorso Cineasti del Presente (Filmmakers of the Present Competition) in 2024.

Federica's involvement in the BBC Panorama documentary "Big Brands’ Green Claims Uncovered" inspired her to create "Zona Blue," a dystopian drama about an Italian couple's journey from London to Sardinia, exposing a government conspiracy to exploit the land for climate experiments. Read Less
