RTS Award wining self shooting PD with over 20 years experience working in the television industry, I have progressed to becoming a series producer director with the sole responsibility of delivering over 60 shows to the BBC.
I have worked on a variety of programmes and genres that have taken me into the complex world of the emergency services. I have also produced and directed on wildlife documentaries that have taken me to India & Florida and I have carried out covert filming on the illegal pet trade, both in the UK and abroad.
Working on a broad range of content has taught me to become a social chameleon! I have had to be as relatable as possible, get on the same level as the person I am working with to gain some common ground and put them at ease. From senior cardiac consultants and world leading wildlife vets to teenage victims of crime. I’ve had to earn their trust quickly, build a rapport with them to get the best out of them on camera.
The television industry can potentially present you with a level of rejection on a daily basis! But with time and hard work I have become more resilient and tenacious, the next phone call I make to a potential contributor might be the one to say yes!
Solid communication skills have been the key to my success and one of my strengths is talking on the phone. I clearly and concisely get my thoughts and ideas across, listen to the concerns that the contributors may have and persuade with counterpoints to reassure them.
Over time I have managed to build excellent relationships with senior ranking police officers throughout the country. For example, Cleveland police’s Head of CID, the head of the MET Police’s burglary department and the National crime agencies lead on drugs, who reports directly to the UK Government Home Office! By earning their trust, they have allowed me access into areas of the emergency services where I have managed to develop and create  new, ground breaking series. Such shows have been broadcast on Sky Crime, BBC 1 and C4, generating more revenue for the business’s I have worked for! Read Less
