I was very involved with the student theatre in Bangor and was the Head Tech Manager for Bangor English Dramatics society. Prior and during University, I sought after any opportunity to be a part of the industry, on or off stage and in front or behind the camera. On top of this, I worked for Pontio theatre in Bangor as part of a “get-out crew” in disassembling sets and lighting rigs. Last year, I worked as part of the front of house team for Underbelly at the Cowgate site, and was intent on working the Fringe again before the pandemic.
Prior to any of this, I had aspirations to become a barrister and worked part-time in Liverpool for a law firm so that I could gain hands on learning. But after shadowing a barrister and truly observing the clients I might represent, I realised that morally, law was not for me. I have also done a series of volunteering positions in Liverpool through charity events and secondary school events, and been a voluntary flyer for the Fringe Festival.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, going to the cinema or theatre, spending time with friends and family, as well as writing. Through university, my main interest has become screenwriting, though I also have other personal writing projects I intend to send off to be published within the next year.
I have often been described by employers as having a good attitude to work, approachable and caring nature with strong desire to help wherever possible. I have a strong sense of right and wrong, and objectively try to understand every situation with deep care and consideration, along with planning and forethought. It is deeply important to me that I reach the goals I have set for myself and set by others, as my personal philosophy is that if I stumble, I must “try, try, try again” until the job is done properly.
