My name is George Hennessy and up until June 2020, I have been employed in the 7Sport department as a Production & Technical Manager with the 7 Network Australia. Due to the Covid-19 situation, I have been made redundant (as has most of the 7Sport Dept.) and I’m now taking this opportunity to put out some feelers to see what opportunities may be out there? As I’m looking to move forward and expand my wings a brief synopsis of myself and my career is below. I started full time work at AAV Australia in South Melbourne (Post Production and Music Studios). 1 year of Video-Tape and then transferred into Audio Post for a further 5 years. Then a variety of Audio positions followed until 1989 when I re-joined the 7 Network. I’ve been continuously employed by the 7 Network since 1989. Starting in the Audio Dept, progressing to Audio Director then Audio Supervisor, promoted to Technical Manager in 2004 and since 2014 I’ve been in my current position of Production & Technical Manager. I have been involved in many and varied large scale sporting events and entertainment events from the early planning stages, compound drawings, overseeing the compound install to deadlines then managing during the on-air period, working with budgets, managing production budgets and raising P.O.'s where applicable through to booking facilities and crew, Technical planning and Technical drawings, overseeing Transmission paths and details, directly liaising with Host Broadcasters, directly liaising with Sporting Governing bodies and Venues, directly liaising with Production companies, being on-site to oversee all operations while on-air. This in the last few years has also included a Digital component these broadcasts.I have over 40 years of broadcast experience, National and International, in all aspects of Broadcast Production and Post-Production. Comprising of; Studio environments, large scale Outside Broadcasts, Host Broadcasts, Olympic Broadcasts, Remote control Room Broadcasts. Some Broadcasting highlights; 7 x Olympics (Summer and Winter), 2 x Commonwealth Games, World Rhythmic Gymnastics (Host Broadcaster & Domestic Broadcaster), Australian Open Tennis (Host Broadcaster & Domestic Broadcaster), World Rhythmic Gymnastics, National Sporting Finals, Golf: Australian Masters, Golf; Australian Open.
