9 and pursued for several years. I have been boundless in my exploration of the audible – developing an interest in creating
sounds using found objects and tools from an early age. From the age of 18 I started collecting various instruments and teaching
myself the accordion, xylophone and theremin. I formed Musique Concrète group Prendedor, in which I played a giant clothes peg and typewriter percussively.
A move to London in 2001 led to my becoming the lead guitarist of indie rock band Guillemots; a hugely successful ensemble that achieved chart success and went on to be nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize and a BRIT Award.
During my time in Guillemots I further explored my interest in using everyday tools and objects musically. I continued experimenting with digital and analogue effects units to create otherworldly soundscapes. There were some remarkable highlights during my time with Guillemots – being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and the BRIT Awards and taking part in the BBC Electric Proms 2006. My absolute best moment was performing with Daniel Johnston at his Union Chapel show in London.
Alongside the band I’d always had a passion for cinema. I directed an arthouse film in 2008 and three Guillemots’ music
videos. With the band we had the opportunity to do live rescores of films such as Eraserhead and Oldboy, and our music
was used on soundtracks for films and TV shows. In 2013 I left the band to focus on Artrock project LUNGS.
More recently, as a solo artist, I have composed music for short films, web series and art installations including award
winning short film “Boris in the Forest” Web Doco “Vice Investigates” and art installation “Blood Mountain”.
Currently working on my first solo record “Something Broke Inside of Me”. Which was written and recorded during 2020
COVID19 lockdown and created only using electric guitars and analogue effects units. And a new electronic project with
multi-instrumentalist Troy Rainbow named Surveillance. A study of everyday sounds and the musical value of organised chaos.
Embracing a meditative yet visceral exploration of core human emotions.
