Working for over a year in social media advertising, content creation, and distribution, having received training in SEO, Facebook ads, and Google ads, I have written and produced YouTube ad campaigns in "Online Fraud Prevention", "2019 Lagos City Marathon", "Wedding Party 2" for clients such as Access Bank Plc, EbonyLife films, and Multichoice Africa.Living in Burkina Faso for thirty days, I was part of a fluid, focused team of documentary filmmakers, during the production of a short doc about the lives of commercial transportation bike riders (okada) in West Africa and the evolving prospect of competitive Motorcross bike riding. Spending three weeks walking and filming in the streets of Ouagadougou, scouting the perfect outdoor location, among my many responsibilities, I was the resident cinematographer for the project. The project was initiated by the French film institute, CineFabrique.
Working within such a fun, professional group of creatives, utilizing a Sony FS5 with a selection of Samyang prime lenses and ND filters, I was able to develop a practical love and respect for the physically demanding nature of outdoor filmmaking and landscape photography.
Credited as a production manager and scriptwriter for an online entertainment platform (Accelerate TV), I worked as an integral member of the production staff for a variety of short films, under the umbrella of "the Accelerate Filmmaker Project." Having helped develop the 2020 strategic plan for the Accelerate fashion department, and the 2019 strategic plan for the Ebonylife social media department, I have gained several years of experience utilizing the Microsoft Office suite, in generating production budgets and schedules. With an adept end-to-end understanding of the production process, from pre- to post, my skills in media production, include topic research, scriptwriting, story editing, scene scheduling, lighting & cinematography, location scouting, and props/continuity management.Working as part of a team of twenty, young, driven, filmmakers, my one-year contract with Multichoice Africa, saw me gain practical knowledge on both controlled studio sets and outside broadcasting live events. From rigging, de-rigging OB camera equipment, working as an assistant vision mixer, to working with various production departments (hair & makeup, wardrobe, health & safety, welfare, and the camera crew) as an assistant floor manager, my time with Multichoice Africa developed my technical craft and visual literacy as a filmmaker and producer. With an unwavering drive and tenacity to share the untold, thought-provoking stories of the oppressed 99%, growing up in a large Nigerian family, I am accustomed to the humility that comes in understanding and appreciating culture and tradition. Living in a world where the value of the social class system is extremely and painfully evident, where the voice of the majority is overshadowed, my driving force has been and always will be, to shape the world’s perception of race, gender, social class, and equality.
