My name is Lauren and I moved to England six years ago in order to pursue a career in film. I chose to study a Masters in Film Production in order to get to grips with the basics of how the production process works. I also chose to study in London as I realised that most things that happen in the film industry are centred in and around London and I wanted to be where everything is happening.I have just finished working as a runner/driver and researcher on location and in the West London Office for Changing Rooms Shine TV, Banijay. I did a variety of jobs on set including looking after talent, getting food and drink for crew, moving props for shoot, building, painting, sanding and shopping for materials and driving them to different locations in England in a SWB van. There was often time pressure to get certain materials on the day of the shoot so I had to ensure my time was used efficiently. In the office I conducted research to source items for the shoot, paying careful attention to budget, chased potential items via phone and online and input data into spreadsheets.Prior to this I worked as a Production Assistant and Assistant Ventilation Supervisor on set for Masters of the Air for Apple TV. This involved testing cast and crew, inputting information into spreadsheets and contacting cast and crew with results. I was promoted to set where our team were in charge of ensuring adequate ventilation into the SFX rig. This was a Covid regulation but was also used to cool down talent. I was also required to listen to the director's instructions in order to radio to switch off the vents during filming so that it did not disrupt the sound recording.I was also fortunate enough to work as a set runner for Pundersons Gardens production house and on the set of the Warner Bros Gringotts promotional video as a Runner, escorting actors and looking after cast and crew. These were all very varied and demanding jobs which I enjoyed immensely and did whatever needed to be done. I thrived in environments where I was required to take initiative when needed, and pick up the slack due to the busyness of the teams whilst also ensuring I followed instructions, in order to complete the work in the time needed.I have a Master of Arts with Merit in Film Production and use various cameras, computer and audio software programmes and write and create my own work independently. and believe that the skills and knowledge I obtained from University and independently, would serve me well in this role.Having to balance both work and studies with long hours and complicated university projects means that I have developed exceptional organizational skills and during my time at University and on independent projects, I have had the opportunity to experience various production roles including Runner, Production Assistant, Producer, Director, Camera Operator and Editor.Working within various teams professionally, academically and independently, I have learned how valuable teamwork and organization is in the production process, in order to produce the best work possible and working within a production environment for the past year has helped to develop my skills and understanding.I have experience of teamwork and working in high pressure environments not only in production but also at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, London, which is a fast paced and high profile environment, and also for companies such as Wetherspoons and Primark and this has given me adaptability and resilience and the ability to interact with a vast range of people effectively, including people of prominence.I am a very hard working, conscientious and friendly person, looking forward to getting stuck in and I would love the opportunity to be a part of your crew and I am confident that the skills I have attained and can bring with me along with my education and enthusiasm will be highly beneficial to your production.
