Dean is an extremely accomplished Producer and Director who I had the pleasure of working with for many years on Countryfile; the last six as one of my Producers. He’s experienced, passionate, ambitious and committed. He’s a hard worker who always cares about the programme he’s producing. He writes very well and can always be relied on to step up in a crisis and work to resolve any problems. He’s enormously well-respected on the team for his leadership and ability to make decisions as well as his creativity. He’s adept at making high-production-value television on a limited budget and knows how to produce audience-pleasing programmes. As a director, he has a visual flair and captures beauty in every shot. He has the respect of the on-screen talent who feel safe and reassured under his leadership. I would have Dean back on my team anytime and he would be a great asset to any production.

Of all the directors and producers I have worked with during my 50 years in television Dean Jones is one of the best. Though a modest man he has a deep and profound love and knowledge of this business. For 15 years he has been a vital part of the Countryfile team and is one of the core reasons for its phenomenal success. He was the driving force in recent years behind the programme's photographic competition and the Countryfile calendar, which has raised around £20m for Children in Need.
