Luke's first TV documentary 'Stranger in My Family' won the BBC Three Northern Docs Pitch at Sheffield Doc/Fest (2022), and has been nominated for ‘Best Documentary Programme’ at the Broadcast Awards (2024). The film is out now on BBC iPlayer as a Nine Lives Media production, in association with Polari.
His first short film 'What Would Julie Do?' found success on the festival circuit, being selected for three BIFA-qualifying film festivals and picking up 'Best Comedy Short' and ‘Best Production Design’ Awards along the way. The film also received an Honourable Mention at the Comedy Shorts Awards (2024).
His second short 'On Rest & Movement' had its World Premiere at BAFTA-qualifying Bolton Film Festival (2023), and he has a slate of projects in various stages of development/production including his first feature film.
Luke also worked as Assistant Producer on 'Savage Waters', a documentary by Emmy Award-winning director Mikey Corker and produced by Whipped Sea, which won Best Picture and multiple Best Documentary Feature awards during its festival run. It was released in cinemas across UK & Ireland in Oct 2023.
Luke is a BAFTA Connect member, participant of the Momentum programme (We Are Parable x Sony Pictures Television x Channel 4) and Thrive programme (Creative Access x Lee & Thompson), BFI Creative Producers Lab alumni (2019), and was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award (2020) for his 48-hr short film 'Tomorrow'.
Additionally, he was a finalist for 'Young Person in Business' at the North West LGBTQ+ Business Awards (2022).
Luke has received funding from BAFTA (Prince William Bursary), Creative UK, Screenskills, and the Film & TV Charity to support his growth as an entrepreneur and filmmaker.
Luke is also a co-founder of the Queer Filmmakers Network CIC, a social enterprise with 300+ members created to uplift and connect LGBTQIA+ filmmakers across the UK.
