I am a documentary director and commercial video producer looking to transition to high end music video production and film production. I'm looking to ascend to a music video director role through a traditional approach of working as a visual researcher, to working on set shadowing directors to executing a high end project.In early 2019 I had researched on what a shooting PD is and decided to practice that role independently on a self-produced factual web series based on a professional Birmingham MMA fighter. I was responsible for scripting the problem, process and solution by collaborating and building a relationship with the MMA fighter beforehand, and then getting on location and shooting a variation of shots along with directing him during interviews and b-roll coverage. I made sure that I wasn't just there to observe but to be active in generating a story for when it comes to editing it later in the day. In the edit it was fairly simple to then piece together a story and have usage of b-roll.I was a shooting researcher for a feature documentary based on the Amritsar massacre of 1919, which was televised in April 2019. My responsibilities included researching during the preproduction stage where I made contact with media archives in India and in the UK for footage, set up schedules and call sheets for crew and the other contribs, secured locations in India such as access to the Jallianwala Bagh (the park where the massacre took place), secured interviewees and set up briefs for the crew in India.
