I took a gap year and stayed in Milton Keynes in the UK, working as a barman and waiter in the Coach House Boutique Hotel for 3 months.I returned to South Africa and enrolled in the Cordon Bleu Cookery School of South Africa for a diploma course. Once completed I worked as a chef in a seafood restaurant and was eventually appointed as assistant restaurant manager.I left the restaurant industry to pursue a career as Sales and Marketing Manager in a direct selling company in the Health & Beauty sector, Nutriway Health. My role and portfolio were extensive with responsibility for NPD (New Product Development), implementing the marketing mix strategies and managing and maintaining margin and P&L. Through my understanding of the Sales mindset & culture, I started my own events management agency called R&B Promotions. I offered full event management services specifically to the DSA (Direct Selling Association of South Africa). Our services included Conference content design, distributor engagement strategies, venue co-ordination, all technical aspects of an event, budget management, entertainment, decor, menu options and project execution.
It was through good relationship building, project management execution and my “can do” attitude that one of my clients offered me a position within a large corporate organization - The South African Breweries.
I spent 2 years there as the corporate events manager.Due to my understanding of the Direct Selling industry and my experience in the Sales & Marketing, I was approached for a position as Operations Manager for a Direct Selling jewellery company, Honey Fashion Accessories.
The role was a great challenge and I had the opportunity to implement supply chain strategies, process mapping efficiencies and CRM strategies.
After establishing specific business efficiencies and significantly reducing the company stock losses, and with my knowledge of the Health & Beauty sector, I was invites moved across to a sister company, Annique Health & Beauty in a similar capacity with the additional responsibility of Demand Requirement Inventory management (Ontime in Full).Hospitality and events however beckoned and I returned to my own Event Management and Production agency. My skill is to create an experiential event from start to finish based on the principles of understanding the sales mindset, identifying, and delivering the key business objectives, attention to detail and my ability to communication across all stakeholders.I have helped clients deliver the most purposeful, creative events and customer engagement campaigns in order to answer the business need through technical production, content creation & editing, decor, entertainment, venue selection, adherence to Health & Safety regulations as well as many other project deliverables, within budget every time.I would be an asset to your organization and team through my hard work, dedication, and experienced skill set. Many thanksBrett Hermon
