I booked Steve to work for me on my latest film, 'The New Girl', prior to the UK lock-down. From the beginning telephone calls to work out logistics and prep work (mainly me hounding Steve almost daily to get his expertise on setting up a difficult location for the best sound possible), Steve came across as a confident, consummate and seasoned professional - without real surprise really as he has a CV as strong as it could possibly be. On the ground and in person, his presence in the crew ratified the above. Able to get on with everyone without even trying, and importantly - liked by everyone - Steve made his presence known by quickly becoming much more than 'the sound guy', stepping in, and up, offering solutions, ideas, and his expertise in delivering what a production needs. To the point you're reading this; it goes without saying that Steve delivered a plethora of crystal-clear sound rushes, all in a few different formats. All were excellent, and due to his mastery of placing mics in the right places, and the magic that he does with his sound kit (it's definitely magic), it was easy to find more than one place to find each soundbite, dialogue, or other sound we needed for the edit. I just can't recommend Steve highly enough. He's an amazing sound guy, and if that wasn't enough, he's a bloody nice guy to have in your crew. Book him. Before I do again.
