Although the past few years have been a roller-coaster experience (Thank you COVID Lockdowns), since graduating from Bristol University with an MA in History and a brief stint exploring South-East Asia I have been searching for an opportunity to delve into an industry which I am passionate about, whilst learning valuable skills along the way.My time both at university and in various professional roles has equipped me with a plethora of abilities that I believe would make me a valuable addition to a team. I possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills (written and verbal) from my time working as a Data& HR Administrator at Badminton School, as the sole Admin for the HR Manager it was my duty to communicate effectively both via email and in-person with all staff members regarding all queries, some of which were confidential in matter and therefore require due tact to make sure all staff members felt respected and safe talking to us in a secure environment. My written communication skills were developed highly during my four years at university, granting me the ability to write academically in a clear and consistent manner, followed by proof reading and editing accordingly. I possess excellent IT skills across Microsoft Suite, Excel was routinely used in my day-to-day administrative role and as you can imagine, Microsoft word was continuously open during my time at university. I am also open to any training that would improve my ability to perform the role to a high standard.Whilst completing my full-time Masters degree I also undertook work at both Cambridge Assessment and as a High Ropes Instructor at Bristol Zoo. Managing both roles alongside key academic deadlines (including a dissertation) is evident of my ability to manage my own time effectively and work to deadlines. As well as the experience of working in a fast-paced environment, working for Cambridge also greatly developed my organisational and time-management skills as the role focuses on marking scripts to a tight deadline, whilst maintaining a high standard of marking. This allows me to work well under pressure and prioritise accordingly, for example, in last years marking periods June-July November-December 2022, I have successfully marked over 1,600 scripts across three papers each with separate deadlines (including a 40% complete deadline) as well as managing a team of five efficiently to ensure their deadlines are also kept. This often involves prioritising certain actions or papers to mark on each given day.Outside of education and work I love exploring the outdoors and participating in sports. I’ve recently undertaken a new sport and hope to join the Cheltenham Lacrosse team in the coming months! I lately completed the Charity Cheltenham Three Peaks Challenge for St Vincent’s and St George’s Association covering 45km over the course of the day. I also have a deep love of books and creative video-games, I even incorporated this love into my academic studies and produced an essay exploring the use of historical video-games as a form of public history! I love undertaking challenges, be they physical or mental, as well as working in a social energetic environment. When I graduated in February 2020 I was greatly excited to explore the creative industry, I had at the time, set my sights on an editorial internship and a position in an academic library, unfortunately the covid lockdowns terminated those initial opportunities I had applied for, which led me to undertake the HR position at Badminton School to gain valuable skills whilst I waited for the industry to re-open its doors. Now two years later (!), after re-locating to the wonderful world of Cheltenham, I find myself in the position to re-take that initial step by applying for this position to gain valuable experience in the industry.
