My world-leading research on early women’s drama (by staging plays by women from the 16th and early 17th centuries before Aphra Behn) has shaped the field across the globe: from Japan and Australia to North America and Europe. My books, articles and productions have become major points of reference. My extensive publications on Shakespeare and his male contemporaries have also gained international recognition. I have served as Chair of the British Shakespeare Association for the last 6 years sharing ideas with academics, teachers, pupils and members of the public. I love discussing Shakespeare and his 'Sister' dramatists on radio and on camera and would be pleased to advise or present material on any programmes or productions. As Professor of Renaissance Drama at Lancaster University I contribute to the promotion of learning through performance.
