I am a senior longform documentary editor with 25 years of experience building films from the ground up, across music, sport, biography and investigation. I work from the timeline as a writer, assembling the sequences that form the spine of the narrative, which the director then develops into a script. Much of my recent work is without narration, where the relationship between interview, archive and sound carries the story.

I have scored entire series and feature length films, and on three major BBC series, The Decade the Rich Won, The Property Trap and Immigration: How British Politics Failed, my music choices carried through to the final broadcast cut. I pay close attention to the gap between what someone says and what an audience comes to understand about them, and to where a film should begin, what a viewer needs to know, and when a moment will land with its fullest meaning. In practice I am part editor, part story producer, part executive: a ready made creative partner for the person leading the film.

My work travels to the biggest premium platforms: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon for Universal Pictures, 4 Kings for Amazon Prime, and Hunted: The War Against Gays in Russia for Channel 4 and HBO. Most recently I cut Episode 2 of Norma Percy's Brexit: A Very British Civil War for BBC Two, and What's the Monarchy For? with David Dimbleby for The Garden and BBC One. My work has been nominated for an Emmy and has won Grierson and BAFTA Scotland awards.
