I wish to develop a career in media content research as I believe it will be an engaging vocation which complements my skills and stratifies my interests. If your studio has an available vacancy I would like to be considered as I think that I am a suitable candidate.I have experience in media production as my internship at Revival FM included participation in the broadcasting process. After a period of co-hosting, where I learned how to organise show features and present properly, I was tasked with hosting the breakfast show alone for two weeks. I was trusted in setting up the studio and was required to learn how to use Revival FM’s programming software. I also hosted one of the discussion features.During this internship I also participated in research initiatives. I explored topics for the discussion section of the show. This improved my ability to gather information at speed and compose briefs for the discussion section of the show regarding recent news developments. This involved interviewing local figures such as councillors and pastors. I was also tasked with medium scale historical research for a show feature on the royal family. Additionally, In December 2019 I returned to Revival FM to research and record a policy review of 6 political parties for the general election that year It proved a great opportunity to perform research tasks out with academic settings. .Indeed, my research skills have been mainly developed through my History Honours and Master’s degrees. Traditionally, I was required to analyse sources such as newspaper articles, survey data, print and online publications. A complex of information gained from such research needed to be refashioned into a condensed but understandable format in written essays, and oral presentations. I have conducted large scale historical investigations such as my 15,000 word Honours dissertation and my 30,000 word Masters dissertation. I believe my first-class honours degree reflects that I am able to complete these tasks to a high standard.I have the organisational skills required excel in content research roles. As a volunteering officer in the Boys Brigade I helped set up annual camps. Here, I was required to plan and organise with fellow officers, transporting a large number of people to and from the camp, planning routes and being sensitive to parents’ advice on how we should treat their children. Meanwhile, my experience of studying while having a part time job made me appreciate the value of task organisation, time keeping and setting up action plans to achieve the best possible results in both spheres.A researcher role may also require a strong degree of interpersonal skill, something I possess. Communication ability has been an essential aspect of working at Scotmid, whether it be required in presenting the correct attitude to members of the public, the drive to remain composed and friendly during long and tiresome shifts, or working with new employees who require mentoring through the processes of the job. Similarly, I have gained a strong sense of group coordination through participating in aforementioned Boys Brigade camps. This sensitivity to the needs and desires of customers and colleagues will be useful in understating what directors and producers are interested in.If you think that I would be a suitable candidate for a position at your studio please contact me.Kind regards,Steven Stewart.
