During a directing career spanning more than 30 years, I have worked across several genres - from food to political history. I have examined the social and sexual mores of the UK’s pre-war years, exposed the hidden world of young runaways from social care, investigated Russia’s brutal and deadly tactics when ending the Moscow Theatre Siege, took Gordon Ramsey behind bars to confront the failures of our prison system and made Jamie Oliver's dream of becoming a cowboy come true ....Recntly I catalogued the dying days of Margaret Thatcher’s premiership and examined the impact of the decsion to invade Iraq on Tony Blair and his cabinet. My films rely on striking imagery, powerful emotional testimony and a sharp eye for injustice.
In 2022 I directed, Lion - The Rise and Fall of the Marsh Pride, is the first feature documentary collaboration between the BBC and the Natural History Unit. The film combines eloquent and moving human stories whilst highlighting the plight of lions who are fast disappearing from the African continent.
My latest film, Gender Wars, for Channel 4, looks at one of the most controversial issues of our times from both the trasngender and gender critical perspective.
I am also a freelance Executive Producer with experience of medical, rigged series, talent fronted docs and observational films. I have extensive experience and special intersts in legal and compliance heavy films and sensitive access. I most recently execed the BBC's Alcoholics Anonymous film and devised and oversaw the Deep Fake used to great success in this doc.
