I then guided the production through the unprecedented challenges of shooting during a pandemic, which we thankfully completed without any shutdowns, working with the Showrunners to bring their vision to the screen. I was also responsible for liaising with Netflix on all aspects of the scripts and production, which was especially crucial during COVID-19 as they were not able to visit the production in person. In three and a half years working on Hollyoaks I produced 220 episodes, shepherding them from commissioning through to transmission, leading a team of writers, script editors, directors, editors and crew to deliver the highest quality episodes to the Executive Producer. In my time on Hollyoaks, the show won Best Soap in 2019 at the Soap Awards, a Royal Television Society award in 2018, Broadcast Awards in 2018 and 2020 (for episodes I worked on) and was also nominated for a BAFTA for three straight years for Best Continuing Drama. While at Hollyoaks, I ran the Northern Writers Scheme in conjunction with New Writing North, which was funded by Channel 4 to develop and mentor new writers, with an emphasis on diversity. Additionally, I mentored script editors and emerging writers in an effort to develop new talent. I’m currently working with Screen Yorkshire as a Development Consultant on their new Flex program.I have written for Hollyoaks and Home and Away and have developed several original projects for television. I’ve received development funding from ScreenACT and Screen Australia and currently have a project under option in the UK.As an immigrant to the UK, someone who has now made a home here with my family, I bring a distinctive perspective — understanding what it’s like to be an outsider, to be different to everyone else and how to find my way in a new country, culture and society. I believe this perspective only helps me in my work, as I am always aware of people’s diversity and endeavour to understand them and their unique experiences.I’m passionate about storytelling, I love creating, collaborating and working with a team.
