Already during my undergraduate studies in Audio-visual Media at the Media University Stuttgart (Germany) I worked as freelance producer-director, managing productions and directing a variety of film formats commissioned by the German public broadcaster SWR and for the corporate world. Since graduating in 2012, I have primarily been working as a production manager for various award-winning documentaries, TV series and cinema feature films. Working for small independent as well as for high-profile production companies has equipped me with a considerable set of experience in managing productions in all its stages and facets – from financing, budgeting and negotiating with co-operation partners to contracting in the film business. It has further allowed me to gain invaluable experience in team leadership and I have extensive experience in team supervision and in dealing with and bridging differences between an array of diverse people ranging from film crew and artists to business people and funders. My previous colleagues describe me as a highly reliable and dedicated person with outstanding organisational skills. I have a proactive approach when managing a film production and get things done in an efficient and timely manner to ensure a smooth production workflow, always attentive to and prepared to deal with unforeseen circumstances, where there is usually an abundance of in film productions. I pay great attention to the fine details and multiple dimensions of a film production whilst not losing sight of the bigger picture. Through this holistic approach to production management I have gained remarkable recognition from the film professionals I have worked with. Producers, funders and colleagues appreciate my caring work ethic as well as the joyful and supportive working environment I establish with the crew and the various production partners of a project. In 2016, I decided to pursue graduate studies in Media, Campaigning and Social Change at the University of Westminster to gain in-depth knowledge of how the medium film, and documentary in particular, may be used to instigate social change. I graduated with a practice-based dissertation in which I conceptualised and implemented a VR documentary project entitled "People2People” that explored VR documentary as a peacebuilding tool in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. East End Film jond the project as lead producer in 2018 which allowed us to secure funding from the film funding agency MFG Baden-Württemberg in Southern Germany to expand our research & development phase and to carry out extensiv prototype filming in Israel/Palestine this year. The project is currently in its post-production phase which will be followed by extensive test screenings and scientific evaluation.
My postgraduate studies therefore have not only equipped me with deep understanding of how the medium film may be used to instigate social change but also enhanced my knowledge and experience in the art of documentary filmmaking, a genre I have always been passionate about personally and which I seek to focus on in my future work as production manager and producer-director.
