A BBC trained self-shooting P/D, my output spans ob-docs trailing the Glasgow Police on knife-raids and features on shopaholics to docu-dramas about teenage bullying. Most recently I was a Producer on a very well received Panorama on the highs and lows of the Bitcoin phenomena that included some box office names and which transmitted last month. I can carry the whole production through, from self-shooting down to editing and self-editing and some of my output has won BAFTA/RTS honours, cited as Critics’ Choice and selected for viewings at international film festivals.Regarding talent, I’ve directed seasoned presenters e.g. Kirsty Wark and Simon Mayo plus fresh faces, and made output ranging from Ridley Scott’s Britain in a Day to Channel 4’s primetime SuperScrimpers series. At the heart of what I do though is to tell a good story; I began as a features writer for the women’s magazines and tabloids where I had to quickly build up the trust of contributors and institutions, allowing me access or exclusive features. In BBC News skill has been vital in dealing with sensitive situations, such as producing for the 1,6 and 10 o'clock BBC News on the abuses of Jimmy Savile within the NHS for which I had to handle victims willing to relay their experiences. I would like to carry on making output that gets under the skin of any topic, and in doing so, engages and entertains the audience, almost unconsciously. Read Less
