My name is Owen Thomas. I am a dedicated producer hailing from the west coast of Scotland, characterised by my working-class background, queer identity, and partial hearing impairment. Over the past two years, I have devoted myself to pursuing a master’s degree in Producing at the National Film and Television School.

Since embarking on my academic journey, I have actively applied my skills in development to advance a diverse array of projects, spanning features, shorts, television series, and animations. This encompasses both personal endeavors and collaborative efforts within the structured framework of the NFTS, where I have contributed to the production of curriculum-based short films.

To date, I have successfully delivered three short films, all of which are about to start their festival run. Most notably perhaps being Dragfox, a LGBTQ+ stop-motion musical starring Sir Ian McKellen in he titular role.

My immersion in the realm of film festivals commenced notably at last year's Cannes, where I had the privilege of working for Independent Entertainment. Through my engagement with their sales, acquisitions and production divisions, I gleaned invaluable insights into the dynamics of the industry landscape.

Guiding my professional growth is the esteemed mentorship of Cameron McCracken from Pathe, complemented by the support of industry luminaries such as Iain Canning, Graham Broadbent, David Heyman and Paul Webster. Read Less
