I'm an award-winning working-class novelist, playwright and screenwriter who writes both drama and comedy. My credits include 3 stage plays at the Royal Court, others at the National Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Richmond Orange Tree, Birmingham Rep etc. I've had 7 plays on BBC Radio 4, an original drama on BBC 1, plus two feature films and several shorts produced. My latest radio play 'The Bulbul Was Singing' was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in August 2019 as 'play of the week'. 'Judy Upton: Plays Two' was published by Methuen in 2021.
