I became particularly interested in DNA and molecular biology so carried out a BSc in Biochemistry at Imperial College London. I then carried on my interest in this area and its application to the criminal justice system by taking an MSc in Forensic Science that specialised in forensic biology.I still have an interest in all the sciences and would love the opportunity to help educate the public on how interesting and exciting science is. As part of my undergraduate degree I undertook a course in science communication. This was a really interesting course that reinforced how science is portrayed in the media and the vital use of layman’s terms. My academic background has made me appreciate how complex science is but with good communication, science can benefit everyone in the wider community.Despite having little professional media experience, I have always enjoyed editing home videos in my spare time and I know it would be something that I would enjoy doing in a professional environment. In the long term I am motivated to pursue a career that allows me to bring science and media together to encourage more people to be passionate about and involved with science.
