THE GLASGOW HERALD‘Pick of the day….odds on favourite’ THE EVENING TIMESBrilliant!…played with insane inspired gusto THE SCOTSMAN‘Ruddy is a huge talent with an impressive track record in her profession. That she is an astute people-watcher is evident in a well-written script, full of humour and wit. Her bawdy and true-to-life characters are obviously drawn from her keen observation of real people’ THE CYPRUS MAIL…'audiences roared with laughter and left the theatre quoting the lines to each other in chuckles. And the jokes were not the only thing that impressed. The actors supported Ruddy well, but it is unquestionable that the show’s creator stole the limelight. Ruddy has impeccable comic-timing, and is one of those rare actresses that steps onto a stage and justowns it’ THE SUNDAY MAIL‘As with all of Ruddy’s previous award-winning plays – ‘Sex, Chips and Ouzo’, ‘Check Your Coupon’ and ‘Glasgow Hard Tickets’, the dialogue bristles with inventiveness and sharp humour, the action is unpredictable and the plot twists and turns in a maze of surprises.’ ATHENA KARSERA The Cyprus Weekly‘Audiences have become accustomed to Ruddy’s clever comedy style and expect to come away laughing. She has also built a reputation for strong one-liners and a unique, sometimes scathing and eye-wateringly honest appraisal of human behaviour’ THE CYPRUS MAIL‘Fringe First winners Rubber Ear are back in town, and their new play, ‘Sex, Chips & Ouzo’ (Gilded Balloon), will brighten the most drizzly afternoon. the show is a rip-roaringly smutty delight. Set in the summer of 1978, it details the polyestered Precious Moments shared by a pair of Glasgow women who fly to Cyprus in search of ouzo, sex and chips. As the characters of the play concede, it's all very Carry On Up the Acropolis, but this is farce with a vein of vernacular realism unmined by Talbot Rothwell'
