I retired in 2016 from Greater Manchester Police in the rank of Detective Superintendent and I am now self employed as a Police advisor, providing subject matter expert advice to writers and production companies. As a Detective I investigated and led many murder and serious crime enquiries throughout my career, for example I led a team investigating the tragic murder of two police officers, the investigation into Knowl View School and its links with the late MP Cyril Smith as well as many other high profile investigations.Following retirement I led a large team for the Independent office for Police Conduct on the Hillsborough enquiry until 2018.I have provided script consultancy advice and interviews on the following TV productions:LIAR Series 1&2 CHEAT ANGELA BLACK BEFORE WE DIE PROFESSOR T Series 1&2 RANIA ALAYED DOCUMENTARY KILLER IN MY VILLAGE SERIESThroughout each production I worked closely with the editorial and production teams, producing detailed script advice, and providing various alternative scenarios to assist the writers to ensure realism with the stories whilst also supporting the drama.Further support provided when attending shooting locations to advise on specific scenes and costume/artwork and props.I also have considerable experience working with a number of companies on documentaries whilst employed in my Police career.
