I’m a hard-working self-shooting Iranian PD who has directed, produced and edited 12 award-winning independent documentary films, a 13-episode documentary TV series focussing on war and its effects in the Middle East. I have also directed and produced arts and culture TV documentaries for the BBC World Service. My films have premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest, Edinburgh International Film Festival, IDFA (Netherlands), Dok Leipzig (Germany), Visions du Réel (Switzerland), Cinéma du réel (France), Festival dei Popoli (Italy), and Movies that Matter (Netherlands) among others. I am attracted to ordinary people caught up in extraordinary circumstances. The close relationships that I build with my contributors are reflected on screen. I am confident having access discussions in difficult and hostile environment circumstances with contributors and organisations, gaining the trust of contributors, and securing exclusive interviews with high profile Middle Eastern contributors who never give interviews.
