I have just finished studying at Canterbury College in which I completed a 2-year course for Level 3 Film & Television Production. My final grade was a merit which is the equivalent to 3 B’s at A-Level. In terms of a future career, I would like to be a film director as I find it interesting and like being able to create new and engaging stories.I have experience working on a couple of TV shows as a location marshal, these include the Danny Boyle directed tv series, Pistol which follows the Sex Pistols on their rise to prominence and the second series of the BBC show, Back to Life. My duties included stopping cars and pedestrians whilst filming is happening, helping with the on set catering by giving food and drinks to other crew members. Whilst working on Pistol, I also did a week work of prep. In this week I visited each of the filming locations early and helped the locations team set up all costuming and makeup rooms, figure out a one-way system around set to comply with the covid rules, and do letter drops to all the surrounding residents.Secondly I have worked on corporate filming shoots. This includes shoots at Frog restaurant in Convent Garden and Octopus Investments in Farringdon. On these shoots I was mostly employed as a runner and camera assistant. When we got too these places it was my job to set the equipment up which includes, cameras, tripods, sound equipment, lighting and rearranging the room to better suit the set. I would also greet the interviewers and make sure they were comfortable and would see to their needs. During the shoots I would set up a small charging station and have spare batteries and memory cards ready to go if needed and would be around to do any jobs that need seeing too. After the shoot it would be my job to take all the equipment down and pack it up and then either drive or carry it all via train back to the studio.I also have experience working at a small local cinema where I have to serve upwards of 200 customers a night. This includes greeting them when they enter the building and when they leave. Serving them their food and drink orders, answering incoming phone calls. As one of the more senior members of staff and a small business with not many members of staff I would also be tasked with organising where the rest of the staff would be working that shift and as the day goes on also adapting the plan to better deal with the number of customers and how busy the cinema is that day. I have also trained new staff members and created the staff rota using Microsoft Excel and then uploading it to google drive. I enjoy doing all this as every day is different and presents a new challenge which is always fun to overcome.
