I have spent many years creating my own content, these include trailers, books, poetry and even garments which has fueled my passion for working in a creative industry. I have also had the opportunity to be a runner on a few short films which has allowed me to get an insight into what working in a studio would be like, this has helped me better my production and knowledge of terminology and task that are used in the profession. Being passionate about art and creative subjects, working in production is a huge ambition of mine. My passion for production lies within the idea of creating engaging pieces of work with lots of different medias, I feel that being a part of a production team is really inspiring as the role entails creating intriguing and eye-opening pieces of work for other people to see.
By studying creative subjects throughout A-level and GCSE’s I have gained extensive skills which I can use in production. Through the study of textiles and art and design alongside each-other, I have learnt how to use lots of different medias lending themselves 2D and 3D pieces of work, for example I feel my painting and drawing skills have improved significantly and I have become more imaginative. The study of English language at A-level has triggered an interest in creative writing and has helped me revise the different styles of creative writing that is used in the media to share stories. From these studies my researching skills have also developed which will help me create and work from a range of sources to make my own original pieces. Furthermore, I have learnt how to complete pieces of work for deadlines and fixing practical problems within, which shows organisation and problem-solving skills which would be key in the production industry when figuring out how to make something and creating it before a set date. Additionally, to opportunities in scenic art and prop making for school shows, I have also taken time to develop my creative writing where I have continued to write my own fictional books to understand the process of how the production of stories could be done but to also develop my creative mindset and have been lucky enough to get it published.
Through my volunteer work as a guide leader for the local group, I have illustrated key aspects of working in a team. By being able to control the girls and getting task done I have gained leadership skills but also showing the ability to work in a team through communicating with the other leaders in order to get a schedule arranged, I feel that this will be useful when working in the television industry as it will show perseverance in a project and completion of ideas. By attending work experience at Diesel on several occasions, I have gained the experience of working in a professional environment and have been able to use my creative skills to set up the studio show room for visitors to see the new collections which is like the scheduling I would have to do a as a runner. From these visits I feel I have definitely gained a stronger passion for developing my creative skills and content creation. In total, I am a very creative and enthusiastic individual who knows that a hands-on practical role will enable me to thrive and display the range of skills I have developed in recent years but also develop new ones. I feel my ambition to succeed in the industry will make me a suitable and devoted applicant for your role as-well as the shared interest of creating memorable content. I thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you
