This year, Sheffield DocFest are teaming up with VICE to present the Rule Britannia Pitch, a unique opportunity to win a fully funded commission for a documentary that speaks to VICE's global young audience of millions and sits in their flagship UK documentary strand.

Rule Britannia focuses on UK stories, incredible characters, with strong narratives and real purpose. Documentaries can run from 20 minutes to 45 minutes and some recent successes in the strand include The Debt Collector, Boy Racer and Swansea Love Story. The films are designed to be unflinching, honest and powerful insights that tell us something surprising or new about the country we live in.

To apply you'll need to send an up to date CV, alongside a 1 pager outlining your idea and why it belongs on VICE, plus a short example of your work which best represents your tone of voice and filmmaking style.

This isn't an entry level opportunity, entrants will need to have made independent films themselves, be at AP or DV Director level with broadcast credits behind them.

For full information or the pitch & application process, visit Sheffield Doc/Fest's website.

Deadline for entries is strictly Tuesday April 22nd
