Assistant Producer (AP)

  • Description

    ABOUT US:

Hungry Bear Media is an award winning, independent production company that has become one of the driving forces in UK entertainment across multi platforms. Since 2014, we’ve grown from a small London start up into one of the UK’s most in demand production companies, with studios in London and Glasgow and a slate of industry leading productions, with brilliant talent both on and off screen creating the best content.

We’re proudly, truly independent, and that independence is what lets us stay talent-first, move fast, and champion bold ideas and the people behind them.

Our culture matters as much as our output. We’re a diverse, inclusive team, and we actively encourage applications from under-represented backgrounds.

Assistant Producer – TV & Digital

We’re looking for a creative, highly organised, experienced, and brilliantly resourceful Assistant Producer to join our team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves coming up with ideas, finding great people and turning a brief into engaging content. You’ll be equally comfortable writing an item, casting a contributor, sourcing props and thinking about how a piece of content can work beyond the long form show across digital platforms. You will be a natural storyteller.

    The Role

Working closely with the Producer and wider production team, you’ll help develop, produce and deliver entertaining, warm and distinctive content across multiple platforms.

    You’ll be responsible for:

Writing clear and creative briefs for contributors and celebrity guests and turning editorial ideas into shootable content.

Casting contributors and finding the right people to bring powerful stories, features and items to life.

Researching, developing and writing items, scripts and links.

Producing contributors before and during filming, ensuring they feel comfortable and deliver great content, telling their stories with authenticity and impact.

Camera Operation (Desirable): Prior experience with camera operation is an advantage, though not essential; a strong creative eye is highly valued.

    Working closely with the presenter.

Generating ideas for YouTube and digital content, understanding what makes something engaging and clickable without losing the integrity of the programme.

Keeping across digital trends and formats, with a strong understanding of culture, sentiment and the news agenda.

Working with editors and the wider production team to shape content from idea through to final delivery.

Being proactive about finding new stories, talent, contributors and creative opportunities.

    About You

You’ll ideally have experience working as an AP in a fast-paced production environment, with a strong editorial instinct and a genuine passion for making entertaining content.

Someone with experience across entertainment, magazine, lifestyle, daytime, news and current affairs or digital programming, ideally with a broad range of content spanning fashion and beauty, cooking and celebrity interviews. Experience with filming and shooting content would also be a valuable asset. Experience on fast turnaround multi-strand shows.

You have your finger on the pulse of pop culture, genuinely tapped into what’s trending across YouTube and beyond.

Someone who understands the pace and tone of a show where the presenter, contributors and audience relationship are at the heart of the content.

An AP who can move seamlessly between editorial development, casting, writing, shooting and producing, while also understanding how to make a piece work on socials and on a digital format.

You are calm under pressure, highly organised, and able to manage your workload and production timelines.

Hungry Bear Media Ltd is an inclusive employer, and we actively encourage applications from individuals from diverse and under-represented backgrounds.
