Matte Painter / Retoucher with AI Skills

    We're seeking a junior/mid-level Matte Painter / Retoucher with AI skills to assist with image composition and quality control work on a reversioning project at Atlantic Studios. You’ll  work under the direction of an established Compositor, creating and refining elements such as backgrounds, set extensions, clean plates, photo-real fixes and restoration/beauty work. The role combines classic retouching and matte painting craft with practical, production-safe AI workflows ensuring high-quality outputs.

    Key Responsibilities: 
    Create photoreal matte paintings and background extensions to support recon sequences and composite shots. 
    Identify and resolve visual artifacts, inconsistencies, and quality issues in AI-generated images.
    Perform high-end retouching, including cleanup, de-aging/beauty fixes (where editorially appropriate), object removal, patching, and plate repair. 
    Maintain consistent visual quality and style across projects.

    Requirements: 
    Strong fundamentals in photoreal matte painting and high-end retouching (realistic integration is essential).
    Proficiency with ComfyUI and its node-based workflow system.
    Strong understanding of image composition, colour theory, and visual design principles.
    Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve technical and artistic issues quickly 
    Experience with AI image generation tools and models.
    Experience delivering assets into a compositing pipeline.

    Preferred: 
    Portfolio demonstrating ComfyUI workflow expertise.
    Understanding of different AI models (Qwen, Wan, Flux, etc.) 

    Freelance / Fixed-term (project-based) – 2 weeks initially with potential to extend
