Casting AP

  • Description

    ABOUT THE ROLE
Common Story is looking for a Casting AP to lead on a new lightly formatted, fact-entertainment series for CBeebies. The series explores children’s relationship with food through sensory experiences, play and curiosity, and is designed to be engaging for a 3–6-year-old audience.

The Casting AP will be tasked with finding a returning cast of children to appear in the series. Building networks with local groups and schools, you’ll be on the ground, sourcing contributors in-person. You'll put diversity and inclusivity at the heart of everything you do, ensuring that the cast represents a wide range of children and their lived experiences, to enable our audience to see themselves reflected on-screen.

The ideal candidate will clearly demonstrate they understand a casting brief and are able to organise and plan strategically to meet those requirements. We particularly welcome applications from people who are highly organised, self-motivated and enjoy a challenge!

Working to the Series Producer, you'll source potential contributors and conduct zoom interviews, shoot and cut short taster tapes, and make candidate decks to be presented to the channel. A good eye for detail and design would be beneficial, as would existing knowledge of basic editing to cut the tapes.

    ABOUT COMMON STORY
We are a next-generation storytelling company and creative community, born from the belief that stories can change hearts, minds, and futures. At a time when many children feel unheard, unseen and written off, Common Story creates bold, human-centered narratives that restore hope, ambition and belonging - and remind children and young people of who they are and what
    they could be.

Rooted in the West Midlands and built for scale, we fuse world-class storytelling with community-led IP and emerging technologies to amplify voices too often ignored by traditional media and broken systems. We set the agenda - and make space for stories that hit harder, reach further and create a lasting impact.

Provisional start date for the role is 23rd March 2026 for a minimum of 8 weeks. This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of three days per week based in our Leamington Spa office. Location filming will take place in the West Midlands.

    OUR COMMITMENT
We are committed to increasing the diversity of the TV industry and actively encourage applications from all under-represented groups. If you have any access needs or alternate ways of communication, do let us know and we’ll be happy to make adjustments.
