Producer or Assistant Producer

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the team producing ITV’s flagship political programme, PESTON. Depending on experience the responsibilities of this role could be tweaked to suit an Assistant Producer or Producer keen to work closely with Robert Peston and Pippa Crerar, covering politics in an engaging and accessible way on television and online for a broad ITV audience
What you'll be doing
Planning, pitching and producing segments (be they interviews, discussions or wider analysis) that makes sense of politics and the big issues underlying it
Securing the most engaging guests for the programme and thinking of the key questions and themes to explore with them
Working with the team to create well produced social media content on various platforms that helps take the show to diverse audiences and thinking of original formats that engage our audience on those different platforms
Being part of the team outputting an ‘as live’ studio programme and helping shape its editorial focus week on week
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Essential (minimum criteria)
A genuine interest in politics and current affairs with a particular focus on British politics
Experience of broadcast journalism (news, programmes, TV, radio or podcasts)
The demonstrable ability to identify what makes informative and engaging politics and current affairs programming on different platforms
Creativity in spotting original ways of covering topics relevant to the national conversation
Good work ethic, organisation and attention to detail
The ability to thrive in high-pressure or fast-paced environments
People skills required to work collaboratively with a lively team and with high profile individuals
Desirable
A strong contacts book, ability to manage relationships and track record for booking and producing big interviews
Picture and video editing skills including some knowledge of how to best produce social media content for multiple platforms
Experience outputting (live) studio programmes (Producer role only)
Extensive experience of wider TV process including managing interviews on location and editing VT (Producer role only)
Experience managing members of a wider team (Producer role only)
TIME FRAME
We will be looking to interview the best candidates ahead of our return to air in January but will be shortlisting applicants on a rolling basis as soon as possible
