Back2back is a Brighton-based, independent TV production company specialising in award-winning factual series and documentaries. Our work explores real-life narratives, with a focus on criminal cases and the human stories behind them. We’re dedicated to producing insightful content that resonates deeply with audiences.
Role Overview:
Start date: 5th January 2026
End date: 31st July 2026 (with possibility of further extension TBD)
The JPM will provide full-time, office-based support to the Line Producer, working closely with both the research and filming team. The role includes shared responsibility for schedule management and oversight of all filming requirements.
The series will be shot in multiple blocks across the UK and the US, requiring the JPM to manage logistics, coordinate last-minute interview confirmations, and oversee filming permits and location clearances. The role will also include financial management duties, working alongside the Line Producer to help ensure the series stays on budget and on schedule.
Due to the US filming blocks, the role may occasionally require working US hours.
Core Responsibilities
Production Planning and Financial Management:
+ Assist in managing comprehensive production schedules, facilitating clear communication across departments and proactively resolving issues to meet deadlines.
+ Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including processing expenses, managing credit card payments and purchase orders, and supporting the Line Producer with maintaining the cost manager.
+ Identify cost efficiencies throughout the production lifecycle.
Crew and Resource Management:
+ Oversee and approve all resource bookings, ensuring efficient allocation of equipment, studio space, and crew.
+ Managing Production Secretary whilst directly reporting to Line Producer
+ Regularly meet with Series Producer and Executive Producer to ensure all filming aligns with the schedules, from a logistical and economically sound perspective.
Logistics and Coordination:
+ Coordinate complex travel arrangements and accommodations for cast and crew, both domestically and internationally.
+ Manage logistics for shipping and receiving essential production equipment and materials.
+ Troubleshoot logistical challenges to maintain the production schedule.
Compliance and Risk Management:
+ Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, and legal requirements specific to the film and television industry.
+ Implement robust risk assessments and incident management protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Documentation and Reporting:
+ Manage and archive all critical production documentation, including contracts, permits, insurance paperwork, and Release Forms
+ Generate and distribute essential production paperwork, such as call sheets, daily check-ins, and production schedules, ensuring all relevant parties are informed.
+ Overseeing all case notes relevant to each episode and ensure information is completed by the editorial teams.
+ Preparing paperwork including, but not limited to, Music Cue Sheets, Archive Declarations and press packs for promotional materials
Post-Production:
+ Checking subtitles, reviewing archive used for declarations, blur lists
About you:
This position is ideal for an experienced and confident Junior Production Manager or Senior co-ordinator with a strong background in true crime or factual content production, excellent organisational skills, and a keen understanding of duty of care practices.
