Overview
Join us for our next TM Masterclass: Damilola: The Untold Story, where we will be discussing this landmark BBC Two and iPlayer documentary produced by Optomen Television.
Actor John Boyega, who was eight years old when Damilola died and was one of the last people to see him alive, joins Damilola's sister Grace and his childhood friends to revisit Peckham in 2000 and the street culture that shaped a generation of young people at the turn of the millennium. Their previously unheard testimony reveals the boy behind the familiar school photograph and offers a new perspective on the circumstances of his death. Alongside contributions from Damilola's brother Tunde Taylor and former Metropolitan Police superintendent Dr Leroy Logan MBE, the film traces the extraordinary investigation, from the collapse of the original prosecution to the discovery of the microscopic forensic evidence that led to the 2006 manslaughter convictions of Ricky and Danny Preddie.
This Masterclass gives TM members a rare chance to hear directly from the team behind the film. Director Alex Thomas, Producer Nelson Adeosun and Executive Producer Becky Cadman will discuss the editorial and ethical challenges of telling this story, working with contributors on such sensitive material, and what it took to bring new testimony to light nearly 25 years on.
For our Pro members, the live webinar will be followed by a Q&A session where you'll be able to ask your questions directly to the programme makers.
