Course Content
The course is for people who work in unscripted TV (specialist factual and documentaries that are eligible for the HETV tax credit) and want to know how to work more effectively with VFX, when and how to incorporate it, how to liaise with vendors and how to budget for it. No previous experience with VFX is required.
The aim of the course is to demystify VFX and help apply effective working practices; increase knowledge and skills, to understand the workflow, process, and improve day-to-day collaboration and management of VFX in unscripted shows.
Lead Trainer Sophie Jackson is an industry expert with a wealth of experience in VFX and in delivering training. Relevant real-world case studies will be referred to throughout, and there will be hands-on exercises to make the training as interactive as possible. There will also be industry guest speakers to share their knowledge, experience and effective ways of working.
If anyone can’t do the March course dates, then there are other course dates: 18–19 April and 18–19 July 2026.
For those working in unscripted productions that aren’t eligible for the HETV tax credit (documentaries under £1million per hour, reality, factual/entertainment shows), please apply for the VFX Management Essentials for Unscripted TV on the 6th – 7th June:
