Transferring from branded content to Fact Ent/Docs

Hello, I'm looking to find a way to transfer from doing docu-style pieces of branded content into the world of factual entertainment and documentaries. I've been told by a few people that transferring to the role of Shooting researcher or shooting AP would be an appropriate move with my skillset. I'm a strong self-shooter, can easily chat to contributors and keen to get stuck in!
