Applying for a job.

I find this baffling. A job I am very capable of doing is advertised. Having over 20 years experience in that field, I believe I am a strong candidate. I apply for the job within minutes of seeing it. Days and weeks pass. No one calls, no one reads my cover letter, no one downloads my CV. What's the point or is this a box ticking exercise to say they have advertised the job externally? I'm a Celebrity Producer/Booker, so these roles are rare!
