Getting more camera work with an editing background?

I've had some camera assistant experience in broadcast, but as my main role is in editing I've accumulated a year or two of no work in the camera field. I feel as though I'm better suited to this role and that my editing background will also come in handy. What's the best way to get assistant work in the camera dept? I would consider going down the AP route to get more shooting experience!
