Stepping up from Assistant Producer to Producer

Hi All,

So Im looking to make the move from AP to Producer at some point soon. Ive been told its the most difficult step up to make. I have been an AP for just over a year and a half and have eight AP credits. How do you get a Producer job without producer credits? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you in advance.
