Former Channel 4 commissioning editor Adam Adler is returning to the broadcaster to join its nascent in-house production arm.
In her first appointment since joining in February to head the in-house business, Ssarah Dillistone has brought in Adler as its creative director.
Adler is best known for showrunning and executive producing ITV game show The Cube and for his work on C4’s Derren Brown specials, including The Heist and upcoming Incognito.
Starting out as Endemol, where he co-created reality shows Bar Wars and The Games, Adler has since held senior creative roles at Granada, Objective and ITV Studios label Potato and also ran his own label Gameface.
At C4, he commissioned The Heist, Beauty & the Geek, Death Wish: Live and 8 out of 10 Cats.
“Adam is an unrivalled creative force and one of the most prolific format creators around spanning gameshow, reality and entertainment,” said Dillistone.
“Adam’s experience originating ambitious and unpredictable formats from The Cube to Incognito, coupled with my own background originating and showrunning reality, social experiments and relationship shows, makes for an exciting mix.”
Adler added: “C4 has always had attitude and originality, and I’d love us to bottle some of that up and take it out into the world. The ambition is to create exciting ideas with that same spirit, for TV and beyond.”
