ScreenSkills is inviting anyone responsible for hiring or crewing up in the screen industries to take part in a survey that aims to calculate skills where gaps lie.

The survey asks questions about which roles have been difficult to fill, any skills gaps in the current workforce, future skills needs, and what training could help to improve the situation, with a view to identifying where investment is needed.

The survey is targeting heads of production, heads of department, talent managers, coordinators and supervisors working in film and TV, visual effects, animation and post-production.

“We want to understand exactly how we can help the industry crew up effectively,” said ScreenSkills chief exec Laura Mansfield.

“To do that, we need to hear directly from professionals about the specific skills challenges faced across the UK.

“This intelligence will help us not only plug skills gaps but also level up opportunity – ensuring every part of the UK’s screen industry can thrive.”

The findings of the survey, conducted by research agency Harlow Consulting, will inform a future ScreenSkills report.

“This is data the industry has told us it needs – a collective voice that can inform government policy and investment decisions,” said Mansfield.

“Ultimately, the findings will help safeguard and nurture the talent pipelines essential to keeping the UK’s screen sector world leading.”

Survey responses are due by 30 November. Click here to take part.
