BECTU's annual Freelancers' Fair is taking place on Friday 6 June at Ravensbourne College, Greenwhich.
The line-up offers great opportunities to hear from leading industry professionals, in sessions such as marketing yourself, funding, 3D, accountancy, protecting yourself as a runner, diversity in the industry, new opportunities for distribution, and of course the chance to meet other freelancers and organisations in the exhibition area (which is where we'll be hanging out).
Amongst the sessions is Pitch Perfect, a rare opportunity to meet programme commissioners and to hear, direct from them, what makes a perfect pitch and what they're looking for, followed by 4-5 mintute "speed pitching" sessions.
Commisions will be able to offer the benefit of their experience and if they like your idea, you just might get a commission to make your film.
Open to people at all levels in the profession, the sessions aim is to give guidance and support to turn your aspirations into reality.
Confirmed commissioners taking part are: Aaqil Ahmed (BBC Religion), Tom Beck (C4 Entertainment), Catherine Catton (UKTV Factual and Lifestyle), Helen Hawken (Director Development and Production, Discovery) and Tom Porter (C4 Current Affairs).
For your chance to pitch, submit a brief outline to pitchperfect001@gmail.com by 1pm Tuesday, 3 June, expressing which commissioner you wish to see (unfortunately, there's no guarantees on preference and slots will be offered first come first served).
